Medical payments to others

Home policy coverage that may pay guest medical bills without proving you were at fault.

Plain definition

Medical payments to others (Coverage F on homeowners) pays reasonable medical expenses for guests injured on your property, often without requiring a liability finding. Limits are modest—$1,000 to $5,000 is common—and it is not health insurance for household members.

Why it matters

Quick payment of small guest injuries can prevent goodwill erosion and larger liability claims, but it does not cap your liability exposure.

Example

A guest sprains an ankle on your icy steps. Med pay may cover the ER visit up to the limit regardless of fault debate.

Common misunderstanding

Med pay to others does not cover your own family’s injuries—that is your health plan’s role.
