Plain definition
The declarations page (dec page) is the at-a-glance summary of your contract: named insureds, locations, vehicles, coverage types, limits, deductibles, premiums, and endorsement codes. It points to the full policy form for definitions and exclusions.
Why it matters
Renewal mistakes—wrong VIN, outdated driver list, lowered limits—show up here first. It is the document lenders and landlords often request.
Example
Your dec page lists collision deductible $1,000 and comprehensive $500 on one vehicle; a claim under comp uses the $500 amount, not the collision figure.
Common misunderstanding
The dec page is not the entire policy. Coverage details and exclusions live in the form and endorsements behind the summary.
