Glass deductible

Separate deductible—or zero deductible—for windshield and auto glass claims.

Plain definition

Glass coverage on auto policies may waive the comprehensive deductible for windshield repair or replacement, or use a lower glass-only deductible. Full glass endorsements vary by state because of glass claim frequency and fraud rules.

Why it matters

Frequent rock chips become cost-free repairs when glass deductible waivers apply, preserving comp claims history compared to large comp deductibles.

Example

A cracked windshield qualifies for repair at $0 out of pocket while other comp claims still use your $500 deductible.

Common misunderstanding

Zero glass deductible does not cover body damage from the same rock that also dented the hood—that remains comp with the standard deductible.
